Music Ministry

The Music Ministry is dedicated to celebrating spirit, creativity, and community through music, arts, and cultural diversity. We recognizing that the sacred is often experienced through music and the arts. Under the direction of Reverend Zephryn Conte, we offers a rich kaleidoscope of musical styles and artistic forms. Our community members welcome a diversity of musicians, sound healers, spoken-word artists, dancers, and ethnic performers from all over the country to share their inspirations within the creative atmosphere of Unity of Divine Love. Come and lend us an ear.

Reverend Zephryn, a composer and arranger with years of NYC performance and recording experience,  regularly invites an ‘interconnected family’ of local and nationally known “new thought, positive music” artists to Unity of Divine Love. (listed below) These inspiring artists enrich and enliven Sunday services and special events, and bring the congregation a wealth of uplifting and healing musical sound experiences. Through Zephryn’s artistic influence and her original compositions, Unity of Divine Love’s Music Ministry is gaining a national reputation for blending Unity ideologies with fresh contemporary original music and verse.

Reverend Zephryn creates an alive and “spirit driven” atmosphere which embraces musical diversity and artistic creativity. She has composed several compositions, congregational songs, and contemporary chants that support or compliment Unity concepts and the lesson topics. One example is Unity of Divine Love’s “theme” song composed by Zephryn and inspired by one of Reverend Kyra’s favorite expressions, the song’s title, “Oh How Usual.” Listen at www.reverbnation.com/zephrynconte . Another example is the contemporary hymn “Fly Free” with lyrics written by Reverend Kyra and music written by Reverend Zephryn. With passion for many genres of music, the open-hearted atmosphere at Unity of Divine Love Spiritual Center provides a warm home for guest artists. Visiting performers often remark at how welcomed and supported they feel, and how the sacred and creative Unity of Divine Love environment provides them with a sanctuary for the fullness of their artistic and spiritual expression.

The congregation at Unity of Divine Love is a part of the musical ministry. Several audio/visual technicians volunteer their time to make the audio-visual aspects, so critical to the successful flow of Sunday services and special events, run smoothly. Members of the congregation sometimes request music, and often participate as congregational song leaders. Song leaders may lead the offertory song or the closing “Peace” song, both of which are sung at our services. The Uni-teens and Y.O.U. (Youth of Unity) also join in from time to time to sing selected songs. The teens often participate in featured musical moments or work with the adults or younger children at various musical or artistic ventures. Reverend Zephryn is especially proud of the dedicated and creative volunteers who have come together as the voices of the Unity of Divine Love choir, the “Intuitives”. One thing is for sure, the Unity of Divine Love congregation makes its own responsive choir of singing music enthusiasts! Freely feeling and moving with the pulse of the music, the congregation’s active participation and heart-felt singing helps to “rock” Sunday services!

Zephryn Conte is the Music Director, since 2005, for Unity of Divine Love Spiritual Center.  Zephryn brings a rich professional background to her role. She is a nationally published author, multi-faceted artist, and transformational educator. She is delighted to share her deep passion for music with the congregation, other artists, and the national "New Thought and Positive Music Communities".

She moved to NYC and earned an MA in Education while teaching, writing, and performing on several commercial recordings and on many NY stages. Also dedicated to personal growth and transcendental awareness, Zephryn is certified in several transformational energy healing modalities. Zephryn is a transformational teacher, currently offering Zzen Body and Soul Programs, which include sound meditations, soul journeys, and therapeutic breath work. As an academic consultant, Zephryn has designed and presented multi-year programs for the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), the US Justice Department OJJDP), and the National Center for Conflict Resolution Education under the umbrella of her own consulting company Environarts, Inc.® www.environarts.com or call 480-774-9844.
